Crawl Street Tavern has seen many an owner, bar keep, and patron walk through its doors, but no matter the hordes inside or the name, it stands resolute. Its long lasting walls beckoning all to relax, have a pour, sing a song, and listen as the ocean waves wash another day into its history.

Fishing was the main source of economy in the early 20th century in Ocean City. As a holdover of the era, sea fare is still offered on the menu. Guests can still delight from the anglers’ pull from local Atlantic waters just like yesteryear.

The building has passed through the hands of an historic Ocean City family from the beginning of the 20th century until the 1960’s, The Trimper Family. Current owner, Wendy DiBuo’s Great-great-great-grandparents, founders of the Ocean City’s oldest amusement park, Trimper Rides, Daniel and Margaret Trimper were the first Trimpers to own the building. They sold it to their grandson, Daniel Henry Gordon in 1915. Among the many names for 19 Wicomico St was Gordon Arms at one time. Presumably as an homage to Daniel Henry Gordon.

Since the most recent proprietors tools ownership many photographs, news articles, and feelings have turned up to link the present with the past. Wendy believes her Grandmother, Matilda’ Elizabeth’s ghost lovingly watches over the place as she was born in the building.

Wendy and Tony Dibuo took over Crawl Street Tavern in 2020 then officially bought the restaurant in 2022. As previous owners of The Cork Bar, they had been the neighboring property for decades. Wendy, a 6th generation of the Trimper family, had a special feeling about the place and purchased it without knowing all the history that lay within the more than century old building. Wendy decorated while the rest of her family did the hard labor.Picking colors. Wendy wanted a “homey feel at the beach. A happy place.”

Crawl Street boasts table seating, bar seating, a pool table and a stage.
